Meet Our Staff

Bud and BettyLou
BettyLou Buxton is the oldest generation of The Buxton Complex. Spending time in both New Jersey and Florida, you may run into her at the complex, or at least maybe one of their two Pomeranians, Bogey and Bentley. Betty Lou is a retired 3rd grade teacher of Lambertville Public Schools.
In memory of Thomas “Bud” Llewallyn Buxton
After 89 years of doing things his way, Bud finally agreed to take a rest on October 7, 2025. He’s hung up his apron after a lifetime of grilling for family and friends, packed away his golf clubs and parked his RV. We’re certain he’s already found the perfect heavenly fairway and is sharing stories about how he snuck his favorite putter up there.
Born in Trenton, NJ on February 3, 1936, raised in Lawrenceville, NJ, and retired to Port St. Lucie, FL in 2004. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1955 and wasted no time marrying his high school sweetheart, BettyLou, in 1956. Together, they shared 69 years filled with love, laughter, and adventure. One of their favorite pastimes was dancing the “Twist”.
Bud began his career in 1956 as a milkman with the family business Buxton’s Purity Dairy in Lawrenceville, NJ. In 1963, he joined the Lawrence Township Police Department as a Patrolman and later served as a Traffic Safety Officer, dedicating 30 years of service to the township. Over the years, Bud generously volunteered for numerous local organizations, including the Lawrenceville Fire Company, the Lions Club, the Elks Club, the Delaware Valley Business Club, and Lawrence Township PBA Local 119.
Growing up in Lawrenceville, NJ, Bud never strayed too far from home—and he made sure his family didn’t either! In 1959, he bought his first property on Cold Soil Road and kept expanding it over the years, creating what became fondly known as The Buxton Compound. It was the kind of place where family was always just a short walk (or shout) away. Bud loved having his children, grandchildren, and eventually great-grandchildren right next door—close enough to share a meal, borrow a tool, or join him for one of his famous backyard cookouts.
In 1982, one of Bud’s greatest accomplishments was developing, what is now known as The Buxton Complex in Ewing, NJ, alongside his daughter Barb (Conover) and later his granddaughter Kristi (Reading). Over the years, the complex has grown to include The Furniture Mill, Buxton’s Boxes Self Storage, Buxton’s Backyard Structures, and Buxton’s Quality Furniture — a legacy that will continue to thrive for generations.
Barb (the daughter of Bud & BettyLou) and John Conover are the heart of The Buxton Complex. Working practically 7 days a week, they are always around. You will find Barb in and around the office helping customers with brochures and pricing. John will be the one installing your swingset or delivering your furniture. When spending some time away from The Buxton Complex, they are usually sailing away on a cruise to somewhere warm and sunny.

Kristi
Kristi Reading (the daughter of Barb Conover) is the core of The Buxton Complex. Putting all of Barb, John, BettyLou, and Bud’s ideas to work, she is always hard at work. You will find Kristi in the office assisting customers and doing all the daily professional tasks. Kristi is a Notary Public and can assist you in all aspects of the complex. When not at work, Kristi is usually working on her farmette tending to her many animals with her three kids, Cody, Kaylee, and Shane; hitting the trails with Cubscouts; or enjoying an adventurous vacation.
Marisa Sachleben may not be family by blood, but she is certainly part of the family. Being part of The Buxton Complex since 2007, Marisa can help you in all fields of The Buxton Complex. She has assisted in growing the business and also is a Notary Public with the State of New Jersey. In her free time, Marisa loves to watch the NJ Devils Hockey Team, NY Jets Football team, and enjoys to travel, sometimes with the Buxton Family!

Matt
Matt Reading officially joined the Buxton Family in 2006 when he married Kristi. Matt has officially joined the Buxton Complex in 2021, offering his experience to deliver COWs and maintain the Storage facility. Many call him “Smiley” because he is always smiling!
Victor Hurtado has been a longtime family friend and employee. Victor is a “JACK-OF-ALL-TRADES”. From keeping the grounds in pristine condition to helping with swingset installs and furniture deliveries you may see Victor all around the complex. In Victor’s free time he enjoys to watch foot-ball also known as American Soccer, hike in the park and picnic.

Meet our Customer Pleasure Department
Brody, is our newest addition to The Buxton Complex. He has been an office addition since 2020. Brody loves to sleep, eat treats, and sleep some more. He is a Cavapoo – a Cavalier King Charles and a Miniature Poodle mix.

Riley may be the smallest of the customer pleasure department, but she will be the one jumping straight up and down to get your attention. Riley is a Silky Yorkshire Terrier
Casey, our whacky customer pleasure department special assistant is our loudest but most cuddlable pup. Casey was a rescue from the New Jersey Animal Rescue and was born in 2014. We know Casey’s mom whs a Blue Heeler. Casey loves playing fetch and being the center of attention.

Buddy is our newest recruit and has been with us since 2019. Buddy came from Puerto Rico in December 2018 and was adopted through ARF of Mercer. Buddy is a sweetheart and loves to cuddle although at times is afraid of his own shadow. He is starting to come around and wants to come make the customers smile. We are not sure of Buddy’s breed, we believe he may be a Corgi Cross, however his paperwork from Puerto Rico state he is a Chihuahua.
Millie has been living at the office since 2020. Once a feral cat, she is now friendlier than the average house cat. In 2020, she discovered the auto-sliding door in the office and now lets herself in and out whenever she wants. Millie lives on treats and pets, she loves to be brushed on her throne and will even guide customers in to show them where her throne is and beg to be brushed. If you happen to get a U-Haul trailer at any point, you will most likely meet Millie, as she loves to assist with trailer hook-ups. If you see Millie chilling in the parking lot, don’t worry, she is just waiting for Barb. It’s technically Millie’s office, we all just work in it!
